Ever find yourself in a situation where you'd like to have a salad only to find out you're out of dressing? Or maybe you're tired of having dry grain bowls and need something to bring them up a notch and make them saucy and creamy? This is just the perfect sauce for any of those situations. It's so easy and quick to make, and can be customized in so many ways. Need it to have some Asian flavor? Add some tamari or soy sauce! Want some Mexican flair? Add some adobo sauce! Going for a sweet and mild, go with everything flavor? Add some maple syrup! It's just so great. I always make sure it's in my fridge and is one of my vegan pantry staples.
The base of the sauce is so simple to make and just requires you to get the ratio of water and tahini to just where you like it. I honestly just eyeball the water and then add in whatever i'm in the mood for.
1/3 cup tahini
6 tbsp water
3 tbsp lemon or lime juice
2 garlic cloves
salt & pepper
Combine the tahini and water until you've achieved your desired consistency. Add in the lemon juice, pressed garlic, salt and pepper. Stir until combined.
